Mshtmpre Hijacker is an adware program developed by 123Mania.  It is installed on your computer by an ActiveX drive-by download at www.123mania.com or its affiliate sites.  It was first discovered on March 12 of 2005.

Mshtmpre Hijacker delivers ads both by pop-up advertising and by browser redirection.  It has no spyware capabilities, so its ads are predetermined and randomly selected.

Mshtmpre Hijacker poses a threat mostly to your system stability and operating speed.  It’s not a particularly aggressive pop-up generator, so the likelihood of browser crashes are minimal.  However, the pop-ups, the browser redirection and the slower operating speed are annoyances.
Mshtmpre Hijacker provides an annoyance without offering anything of value to the computer’s user.  It should be removed with an adware removal tool such as SpyZooka.  Manual removal is discouraged, due to the complexity, time expense and potential for harm to your computer.  SpyZooka is known to completely remove this threat from your computer.
