NaviHelper Detection and Removal
Title: NaviHelper
Also Known as: NavHelper
Severity scale:
NaviHelper is a piece of adware that downloads a list of commercial sites and then uses that list to serve up advertisements on your computer. It will sometimes download with freeware, shareware, or other ad-supported programs. (Not all such programs will infect you with adware—make sure you read the user agreement before installing any such software to your computer
NaviHelper tries to insinuate itself as a browser helper object, or BHO. It will attach itself to Microsoft Windows Internet Explorer and update itself as you surf! It typically will start itself every time you start your system up, without asking user permission.
BHOs are potentially dangerous because they provide an open port for malicious programs to access your computer. They also slow down your browser and your operating system in addition to delivering annoying ads. We highly recommend an anti-spyware program like SpyZooka to take care of this problem.
