~42f0.tmp

~42f0.tmp is a temporary file known as a “module\r” that may end up in your directory.  The function may still be vital.  It is also possible that the file was useful for a program to run at one time but is no longer necessary.

A cluttered registry is one of the primary reasons that Windows systems begin to operate slowly over time.  The registry is composed of “shortcuts” created to run programs more quickly.  Over time, the registry can become cluttered with entries from deleted programs, old versions of software, and viruses, adware, and spyware.  (Even once the malicious programs have been removed, the registry files may be left behind.)

While Microsoft recommends that you re-install your Windows operating system once a year, a much easier way to maintain your computer is to run a registry cleaner.  ZookaWare PC Cleaner offers a free scan so that you can see if your registry has been slowing down your laptop or PC.
