acxtrnal.dll Error Fix

What is acxtrnal.dll?

The acxtrnal.dll module examines peripheral devices to determine if they are compatible with Windows Vista. If the acxtrnal.dll module finds that it can send and receive appropriate signals from the device it will go ahead and initialize it. Printers, scanners, cameras, and even monitors and mice might all be examined by the acxtrnal.dll module during the boot process.

At some point the acxtrnal.dll file will hand over control of the device to the listed driver program. This driver in turn is likely to come from the manufacturer. With this the Windows OS often bundles drivers from many different manufacturers and includes them on the same CD.

Even though Windows Vista has only been out in the market fairly recently there are already numerous indications of hacks and system weaknesses. Not surprisingly some of those malicious pieces of software target the acxtrnal.dll module.

You can go to a Microsoft validation server and have it tested but instructing your anti-malware program to conduct a full system scan on your machine will allow you to both determine the legitimacy of this module and subsequently heal the infection in case your system was injected with a version of this module that contains malicious code.

If the acxtrnal.dll module appears to be in the same condition as when it was issued, you will be notified that there are no problems with the file both from the Microsoft server and your anti-malware application.

Keep in mind that the acxtrnl.dll module and many other vital operating system components are often accessed by malware programmers through file sharing networks. For the most part you are better off avoiding these locations as much as possible.

Suggested fix if you are experiencing acxtrnal.dll error messages:

DLL (Dynamic Link Library) files contain computer code and resources that can be used by multiple programs at the same time. This uses less system memory and helps your computer system run more efficiently. DLL files give program developers the ability to reuse code to add features to several programs without the need to write new code for each program.

There are many programs that require DLL files to function properly so when one of them is damaged or missing it will cause program crashes and poor system performance.

To fix these problems the user must replace the damaged file with a valid working version. If a working version cannot be found the user may perform a reinstallation of their operating system.
