Error Fix for adrot.dll

What is adrot.dll?

The file adrot.dll is also called MSWC Advertisement Rotator. It is registered to the Microsoft Corporation. The Advertisement Rotator module provides the runtime process that displays different images of a banner ad in a web page every time a user enters or refreshes a page. The module can be manipulated by the web developer through scripts so as to meet the needs and requirements of the website.

The module adrot.dll is a legacy object component written in .ASP and is part of the .NET 2.0 framework. It exists as a compressed file in the file of the Personal Web Server 4.0 in Windows 95. It is supported by the Internet Information Services (IIS) running on Windows 98, Windows NT, and Windows 2003. It comes bundled with IIS 4, 5, and 6 but is no longer a component of IIS 7.

Although the file adrot.dll comes built in with IIS 5 and 6 it is actually not yet installed and ready to function. It has to be registered using regsvr32 so that its functionalities would work with IIS. For IIS 4 the module is installed and ready to run. There are other utility modules that function similar to the Ad Rotator module. These are components for browser capabilities such as content linkers, content rotators, counters, logging utilities, page counters, and status tools.

If the adrot.dll module become corrupt or unusable or in case the system has been upgraded and currently use a different OS or IIS version the DLL module can be manually extracted from the CD installer by using the expand.exe utility normally included in the CD installer. The module should then be registered with IIS using regsvr32.

Recommended fix if you are experiencing adrot.dll error messages:

DLL (Dynamic Link Library) files contain computer code and resources that can be used by multiple programs at the same time. This uses less system memory and helps your computer system run more efficiently. DLL files give program developers the ability to reuse code to add features to several programs without the need to write new code for each program.

There are many programs that require DLL files to function properly so when one of them is damaged or missing it will cause program crashes and poor system performance.

To fix these problems the user must replace the damaged file with a valid working version. If a working version cannot be found the user may perform a reinstallation of their operating system.
