Error Fix for appconf.dll
The IIS, or Internet Information Services is a set of Internet-based services for server-type Microsoft Windows operating systems. Described as “AppConfig Module” the file appconf.dll is an integral component of the IIS management system and plays an important role in initiating some of its core features.
The IIS Management application started with Microsoft Windows NT particularly version 1.0 and moved on to the latest 7.0 releases under the Windows Server 2008 and the Windows Vista platform. The appconf.dll file in all these applications has a total file size of 98,304 bytes with the latest version release of 6.0.2600.1.
The IIS system supports Web-based transactions such as FTP, SMTP, NNTP, HTTP, and HTTPS. It also integrates the management and organization functions of these protocols in the Windows platform. The module appconf.dll contains syntax and codes that are called upon by its parent program for some of its features such as DllCanUnloadNow, DllGetClassObject, DllRegisterServer, DllUnregisterServer, and others.
The appconf.dll module also contains the configurations used by the IIS Management System and embeds these into the GUI of the main program. This simplifies the user’s task to change settings without the need for resorting to hard coding.
Since the IIS system is considered an add-on module to most Windows operating systems (excluding NT) the file appconf.dll is placed under the location C:/ Windows/ ServicePackFiles/ i386/. Some Web-based programming languages like ASP.NET might need to use the appconf.dll module as reference to embed certain functions and features onto their application.
It is advisable to refrain from deleting, modifying, or transferring this file in order to avoid possible errors in various applications and stability issues with your system.
Recommended fix if you are experiencing appconf.dll error messages:
DLL (Dynamic Link Library) files contain computer code and resources that can be used by multiple programs at the same time. This uses less system memory and helps your computer system run more efficiently. DLL files give program developers the ability to reuse code to add features to several programs without the need to write new code for each program.
There are many programs that require DLL files to function properly so when one of them is damaged or missing it will cause program crashes and poor system performance.
To fix these problems the user must replace the damaged file with a valid working version. If a working version cannot be found the user may perform a reinstallation of their operating system.
