atmui.dll Error Fix

The module atmui.dll is part of the Millennium Edition of the operating system Microsoft Windows. It is a file that uses the language Dutch thus the alias Eigenschappen voor Windows ATM which translates to “Properties for Windows ATM” in English.

The file is used in the setting up of the computer’s WAN (Wide Area Network) or the Internet. The module atmui.dll is most specially needed when the connection being setup is a broadband connection that uses ADSL (Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Line).

The “ATM” in Windows ATM stands for Asynchronous Transfer Mode. It is a packet switching network cell relay and data link layer protocol. This is the technology used by Internet service providers who provide ADSL subscriptions.

The main purpose of the module atmui.dll is the configuration of the WAN when it is setup. It has 2 export type functions namely WanConfigDialog and WanQueryConfigData. It also contains a user interface to make the configuration of the WAN easier.

There are several files that the atmui.dll module imports functions from. These files are the kernel32.dll, gdi32.dll, user32.dll, advapi32.dll, comctl32.dll, and ole32.dll. One may observe that all of these files are system DLLs.

There is one particular problem that bothers users in terms of the file atmui.dll. There are instances that when a user installs his or her WAN connection the system will ask for the file atmui.dll since it has not detected it. The basic solution to this problem is to have your Microsoft Windows Installer CD handy. Once it asks for the CD just insert it in the optical drive and that is it.

Recommended fix if you are experiencing atmui.dll error messages:

DLL (Dynamic Link Library) files contain computer code and resources that can be used by multiple programs at the same time. This uses less system memory and helps your computer system run more efficiently. DLL files give program developers the ability to reuse code to add features to several programs without the need to write new code for each program.

There are many programs that require DLL files to function properly so when one of them is damaged or missing it will cause program crashes and poor system performance.

To fix these problems the user must replace the damaged file with a valid working version. If a working version cannot be found the user may perform a reinstallation of their operating system.
