Dformd.dll Errors Solved
The dformd.dll module is a digital Fortran runtime file and is required to run applications written in Visual Fortran. Compaq Computer Corporation is the developer of Visual Fortran version 6.5.0
For the Standard Edition of Visual Fortran, a PC with an Intel 486/66 MHz or higher processor is recommended although a 100% compatible PC would be acceptable. It is best suited to run in a Microsoft Windows NT Version 4 operating system with Service Pack 3 or later, also provided on the Visual Fortran CD-ROM. A Microsoft Windows 95 or Windows 98 operating system is the minimum requirement to run Visual Fortran.
Visual Fortran Professional Edition on the other hand was designed to run on either an Intel Processor or a Digital Alpha processor. A PC with an Intel Pentium 90 series or higher processor is recommended. A DIGITAL Alpha processor will also be functional with Visual Fortran Professional. The Professional edition also runs on the same minimum operating system requirements as the standard edition.
The dformd.dll module consumes a large portion of RAM when running with the main application. Upon execution, Visual Fortran running in Windows 95 or Windows 98 x86 would take up 24 megabytes of available memory, 32 MB being the recommended requirement. In Windows NT x86, 24 MB of available memory is taken up and 32 MB or more is the required RAM allocation. When running in Windows NT Alpha, Visual Fortran eats up 32 MB of available memory with 48 MB or more as the ideal RAM requirement.
The dformd.dll file as well as the other components of Visual Fortran Standard Edition require up to 310 MB of hard disk space when installed. For the Professional Edition, it needs up to 370 MB of hard disk space for all the components to be installed completely. Both standard and professional versions come bundled with Microsoft Internet Explorer 4.

What is a DLL?
Your operating system comes pre-installed with Microsoft DLL’s and most third party programs also install DLL’s.
DLL (Dynamic Link Library) is Microsoft’s implementation of the shared library concept. Meaning there’s a DLL library on your computer and each DLL can be shared among different Microsoft and third party programs. This shared library method helps your computer run faster by having fewer operations running at the same time.
When a DLL is missing or corrupt it may show an error message and programs may fail or crash.
Because DLL’s are shared, one missing or corrupt DLL may affect multiple programs on your computer.
