dnsapi.dll Fix

What is a DLL?

DLL (Dynamic Link Library) files contain computer code and resources that can be used by multiple programs at the same time. DLL files give program developers the capability of reusing code to add features to several programs without the need to write all new code for each one.

Many programs require DLL files to function properly so when one is damaged or missing it will cause program crashes and poor system performance.

What is dnsapi.dll?

Dnsapi.dll is a part of the core Windows operating system (OS) and is defined as Domain Name Server (DNS) Application Programing Interface (API). Dnsapi.dll contains the functions used by the DNS system that resolves Internet Protocol (IP) addresses from host names.

The DNS system uses the dnsapi.dll application to translate domain names into matching IP addresses. The DNS system is considered to be it’s own network and if one DNS server doesn’t know how to translate a certain domain name it will ask another and another until the correct IP address is returned.

Dnsapi.dll assigns the responsibility for assigning domain names and mapping them to IP networks by granting a controlling server for each domain to track its own changes which avoids the need for a central registrar to be constantly consulted and updated.

Dnsapi.dll contains a database that contains a list of registered domain names and converts the names we type into our web browser address bar to the IP addresses of the web servers that are hosting the sites we are looking for. No one computer holds the entire dnsapi.dll program database as each DNS server maintains one piece of the overall chain of command.
