A user of Microsoft Outlook is able to build his or her address book with the use of the module emsabp32.dll. This DLL provides the functionalities needed to store names, e-mail addresses and other contact information and allows this information to be displayed, edited or copied.
The emsabp32.dll file handles address book features and plug-ins unique to Microsoft Outlook. In composing an e-mail message Microsoft Outlook can automatically check if the name input matches a name in the address book. If a match is found the display name and e-mail address are automatically filled in.
If the name does not match any name in the address book the Check Names dialog box prompts the user for more information or prompts the user to create a contact by clicking on the button ‘New Contact.’
Apart from addressing messages the address book is also useful in organizing names and other information and making them easily accessible through the ‘Find a Contact’ box on the Standard toolbar of Microsoft Outlook.
A default address book is built automatically during Outlook setup. The user can edit the default address book as well as set other address book preferences such as setting priority addresses or determining the location to store personal addresses.
The emsabp32.dll file extends the functionalities of a personal address book. This is a customizable address book for storing personal e-mail addresses that are frequently used. Later versions of Microsoft Outlook integrates this feature in the Outlook ‘contacts’ function which the user can maximize better for its flexibility and customization functions.
The Outlook address book can be downloaded to other portable computers. While building the address book the emsabp32.dll file processes all information, assigns an .abp extension to the files and stores them in the offline address book (OAB) system folder.
This enables users to access the address book offline and allows him or her to create one offline address book for each site even of an entire organization.
Note that the offline address book system folder cannot be replicated from one site to another site within an organization. This is because each site has its own default OAB system folder.

What is a DLL?
Your operating system comes pre-installed with Microsoft DLL’s and most third party programs also install DLL’s.
DLL (Dynamic Link Library) is Microsoft’s implementation of the shared library concept. Meaning there’s a DLL library on your computer and each DLL can be shared among different Microsoft and third party programs. This shared library method helps your computer run faster by having fewer operations running at the same time.
When a DLL is missing or corrupt it may show an error message and programs may fail or crash.
Because DLL’s are shared, one missing or corrupt DLL may affect multiple programs on your computer.
