What is a DLL?
Dynamic Link Library (DLL) files contain computer code and resources used by multiple programs at the same time. DLL files allow program developers to reuse code to add features to several programs without the need to write all new code for each one.
Many programs rely on DLL files to function properly so when they are damaged or missing you will experience program errors and poor system performance.

Imm32.dll is a part of the Input Method Manager which helps minimize the effort required from uses to enter text containing characters from Unicode and double-byte character sets. Imm32.dll will monitor the user’s keystrokes and anticipate what characters the user may want then presents a list of candidate characters that the user may choose from removing the need to remember all possible character sets.

Imm32.dll is responsible for receiving the keyboard commands from the Windows manager and determines if the command was meant for the input method manager or not. If the command was directed to it then the input method manager it will respond to the keyboard command and if it is not directed to the imm32.dll it will pass the command to the IME.
Overall the IME-ware applications are responsible for paining the IME UI (User Interface) windows such as status, composition, and candidate windows from the IME. IME-ware applications are capable of fully customizing the appearance of each window including the position on screen and the fonts used to display characters in them.
