What is mlang.dll?
Mlang.dll is the multi-language support for internet explorer and provides essential functions needed to convert and translate present internet character sets to Unicode and the reverse. The file mlang.dll determines and identifies the language of an object. Depending on the language preference of the user it can then be displayed or the user can switch to one of various languages for the object if both the object and language are encoded in the database.
Some of the features included in mlang.dll are IMLangLineBreakConsole and IMLangFontLink. IMLangLineBreakConsole provides a locale-aware line-breaking function to allow for the fact that different languages have different rules for hyphenation, spacing, and where a line should be broken on a page.
IMLangFontLink contains the methods a client uses to perform font linking which creates a custom font that inherits from a specified source font which helps developers that need to output strings that contain characters from a variety of character sets.
These tools were intended to help developers with problems presented by the international scope of the internet as well as international and multilingual issues.
