msvcp71.dll Error Fix Download

The DLL msvcp71.dll is a module belonging to the Microsoft C Runtime Library. It is a collection of link libraries that contains instructions for the standard C library functions. It is used by almost all Windows programs compiled from C or C++ source code.

The msvcp71.dll program provides routines for programming for the Microsoft Windows 98, Windows Me, Windows NT, Windows 2000, and Windows XP operating systems. These routines automate many common programming tasks that are not provided by the C and C++ languages using the application msvcp71.dll.

C++ provides several generic containers, functions to utilize and manipulate these containers, function objects, generic strings and streams support for some language features, and every day functions for tasks such as finding the square root of a number.

The DLL msvcp71.dll depends on a runtime library of routines which contain code that the compiler uses at runtime. The code that initializes the process for the operating system is implemented in the C Run-Time Library for a given vendor’s compiler.

Before the standardization of the msvcp71.dll file it did not provide built-in functionalities like I/O operations unlike traditional programming languages such as FORTRAN and COBOL. Eventually many ideas and implementations were incorporated into the Standard C libraries that led to the standardization of the C programming language.

The C programming language was created by AT&T Bell Laboratories in late 1960. During this time it became popular particularly in universities and organizations that began creating their own variants of the C language. In 1983, the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) established a committee for the standard specification of C. This was called the ANSI C. As a result the so called C89 standard was created in 1989 resulting to the development of a standard set of software libraries now called the ANSI C standard library.

The module msvcr71.dll is the redistributable version of the file msvcrt.dll. An application should use for redistribution the msvcr71.dll file and should avoid placing its copy in the system directory. Instead the file msvcr71.dll should be kept in the directory of the application housing it particularly applications built with Visual C++ .NET by using the /MD switch.

What is a DLL?

DLL (Dynamic Link Library) files contain computer code and resources that can be used by multiple programs at the same time. This uses less system memory and helps your computer system run more efficiently. DLL files give program developers the ability to reuse code to add features to several programs without the need to write new code for each program. There are many programs that require DLL files to function properly so when one of them is damaged or missing it will cause program crashes and poor system performance.

Suggested fix if you are experiencing msvcp71.dll error messages:

DLL files are important parts of your operating system and many programs require them to function. When these files become damaged or are missing it causes poor system performance and system crashes. To fix these problems the user must replace the damaged file with a valid working version. If a working version cannot be found the user may perform a reinstallation of their operating system.
