Download ntdll.dll Error Fix

Windows NT operating system is a layered architecture with the ntoskrnl.exe process and the hal.dll module on the bottom layer. The next layer up contains two of its most important files the system win32k.sys and the module ntdll.dll.

The DLL ntdll.dll is primarily concerned with system tasks. It includes a number of kernel-mode functions which implements much of the functionality of the Windows Application Programming Interface (API). However the module ntdll.dll does not handle any of the graphical components of the system. Instead it is responsible for functions like File I/O, timing, messages, and threading and synchronization. These functions are popularly known as the Native Windows API and are undocumented by Microsoft Corporation.

The module kernel32.dll is the user mode equivalent of the DLL ntdll.dll. Most of the kernel32 functions simply call into the ntdll.dll process. For this reason it is believed that using the functions of the ntdll.dll module directly without passing through the DLL kernel32.dll will make programs run faster. However the ntdll.dll application is so complex that it cannot be used alone. The file ntdll.dll is a dynamic link library created by Microsoft Corporation. It is also known as the NT Layer DLL.

Errors usually occur in the ntdll.dll application due to several reasons. Errors occur in the ntdll.dll application because of hard drive error. When this occurs the Windows NT system may stop working and crash. It may also cause problems to Internet Explorer and Windows Explorer making it difficult to complete any task on your computer. If you receive the program ntdll.dll error after installing Windows it may be that the disk you used for installation is damaged or scratched. Many times even with a damaged disk the installation will be completed but errors will be generated later. Errors also occur in the ntdll.dll module if the cable used to connect the hard disk to the motherboard is defective. Outdated or faulty drivers may also cause problems on the ntdll.dll module.

What is a DLL?

DLL (Dynamic Link Library) files contain computer code and resources that can be used by multiple programs at the same time. This uses less system memory and helps your computer system run more efficiently. DLL files give program developers the ability to reuse code to add features to several programs without the need to write new code for each program.

There are many programs that require DLL files to function properly so when one of them is damaged or missing it will cause program crashes and poor system performance.

Suggested fix if you are experiencing ntdll.dll error messages:

DLL files are important parts of your operating system and many programs require them to function. When these files become damaged or are missing it causes poor system performance and system crashes.
