Solve px.dll Error Messages
The px.dll module is one of the Sonic engine files required for the compact disc burning to work. It is a dynamic link library associated with Px from Sonic Solution. Px is used to play audio compact discs in DAE mode and for ripping and burning compact discs.
The Digital Audio Extraction or DAE is also known as CD ripping. It is the process of extracting audio from a compact disc, which is copied to the hard drive in the waveform (WAV) audio format.
The px.dll module application is typically used by applications that play audio files particularly music in the WAV format. One popular example is the WinAmp or Windows Audio MPEG Player. Through the application of the px.dll module WinAmp allows the user to burn MP3 files into the compact disc.
There are other applications that utilize the px.dll file. When these applications are installed into the user’s personal computer possible conflicts might arise. Having different versions of the px.dll module installed into the system causes the conflict.
Errors like the ordinal 373 or the ordinal 422 could not be located in the DLL px.dll. When the ordinal 422 problem occurs in the WinAmp application the first thing to do to resolve this is to uninstall WinAmp. Without rebooting proceed to the reinstallation of WinAmp and under the ‘Choose Components’ panel of the WinAmp setup uncheck the ‘Audio File Support – Sonic Ripping/ Burning Support option.
The ordinal 373 problems normally occur when another program that also uses the px.dll module is installed but differs in version with what WinAmp uses. In order to resolve this the px.dll file needs to be downloaded and copied to the folder where WinAmp is installed. Only through the installation of the correct version used by WinAmp will the error be resolved.
What is a DLL?
Your operating system comes pre-installed with Microsoft DLL’s and most third party programs also install DLL’s.
DLL (Dynamic Link Library) is Microsoft’s implementation of the shared library concept. Meaning there’s a DLL library on your computer and each DLL can be shared among different Microsoft and third party programs. This shared library method helps your computer run faster by having fewer operations running at the same time.
When a DLL is missing or corrupt it may show an error message and programs may fail or crash.
Because DLL’s are shared, one missing or corrupt DLL may affect multiple programs on your computer.
Px.dll is created by:
Known file path:
C:\Windows\ system32\ px.dll
