wtsapi32.dll Error Fix
What is a DLL?
DLL (Dynamic Link Library) files contain computer code and resources that can be used by multiple programs at the same time. This uses less system memory and helps your computer system run more efficiently. DLL files give program developers the ability to reuse code to add features to several programs without the need to write new code for each program.
There are many programs that require DLL files to function properly so when one of them is damaged or missing it will cause program crashes and poor system performance.
What is wtsapi32.dll?
The wtsapi32.dll module is a Windows Terminal Server SDK API that contains functions enabling applications to manage terminal services, set and retrieve user configuration information that is specific to terminal services, and use terminal services virtual channels.
The wtsapi32.dll file contains program code used by applications when communicating with a Terminal Server. By using the methods that the wtsapi32.dll module provides programs can retrieve information regarding user sessions, perform general management, administration functions, and many other tasks relating to Terminal Services.
If your application runs in a non-Terminal Services environment but you want to use the wtsapi32.dll module to provide additional functionality the LoadLibrary function can be called to load the module wtsapi32.dll. If the LoadLibrary call fails your program can run by using the basic functionality of the wtsapi32.dll file. However if LoadLibrary succeeds you can call the GetProcAddress function to retrieve pointers to the Terminal Services functions that you want to call.
The wtsapi32.dll module was introduced in the Service Pack 4 for Windows NT Terminal Server Edition and is fully supported on Windows 2000. Most of the new APIs begin with the letters WTS. The WTS APIs is exported from the wtsapi32.dll file included with SP4. The declarations for these new WTS APIs are located in the wtsapi32.h. Other new APIs introduced with the service pack integrated into existing header files. In addition to updating the operating system the new headers and libraries will be included with the service pack.
The wtsapi32.dll file is introduced with a special SP4 release specifically for Terminal Services. On all other Windows NT platforms if your application has implicitly linked to the wstapi32.dll module the application will fail to run without this DLL.
