Aconti Dialer Profile

Aconti was first discovered in February of 2002.  It is distributed by a company called A Lifestyle GmbH, also known as ELTIMA Software GmbH, a known creator of Dialers, and it is of Italian origin.

Aconti, as most programs of its type, is installed on your computer by an ActiveX drive-by download.  It has also been seen to be manually installed in some cases.

Aconti attacks your computer by hijacking your computer’s dial-up modem.  Invisibly, it then exploits it to call premium tolled long-distance phone numbers instead of your usual ISP, racking up charges at international rates.  The server is a purveyor of pornography, and Aconti will start downloading pornographic content onto your computer.  This results in enormous phone bills.

Aconti also serves as a part of other Internet parasites.  Worms and Trojans such as Backdoors and Downloaders commonly use Dialers as part of their package.  It serves the purpose of providing the connection to the server for them, typically by Internet Relay Chat technology.  It is also bundled with other Dialers.

If you discover that you are infected with Aconti, you should remove it with ZookaWare PC Cleaner to avoid racking up a huge phone bill.

Everytime I logged onto my account, my background changed to this thing and it said that ” Your computer has several fatal errors due to spyware activity.” It didn’t allow me to change my background. Everytime I did that, it changed back. Also, it said that the task manager has been disabled by the administrator, but I’m the administrator and I didn’t disable it. Also, i did a scan, I found Aconti. I needed my computer really fast, so I had to say thanks to bluepenguin for the help.

My dad’s friend laptop is wicked horrible. He let his daughter use it and i guess she went on myspace and it caught so much bad spyware and viruses. It has McAfee but when it scanns for the viruses and it finishes, i tried to delete them and McAfee freezes and doesn’t respond. So i download Spybot S&D and i run a scan right now. I was thinking of getting AVG for the thing but really i wanted to reformat the hard drive its so bad. The background has been changed saying “Your IP adress is ________ and via this adress an unauthorized access was gained by another computer”. I tried to even do System Restore and none of the dates work. It said it cannot restore to date. I’ve tried all the dates, none work. All these until I found about Spyzooka, a program that helped me a lot.
