AutoSearch.b – Don’t Mess With This One!
AutoSearch.b is another of those “browser help objects” that are really in fact adware. They hijack your browser and deliver up content that they want you to see, typically something very objectionable or something they feel is targeted to your search preferences, since they’ve already been spying on them. AutoSearch.b installs without your help or okay, and goes about the task of sending off your data to third party servers that send back ads and other, more harmful spyware or fraudware to take you even further down the rat hole!
What you’ll notice at first is that you seem to be getting a lot of unwanted popup ads, and your popup blocker seems to have stopped working. (If you had it turned on at all!) Your browser doesn’t seem to be your own anymore, as it is constantly delivering up content that you have no desire to view. Your system seems slow as molasses, and you may even experience a crash before too long. Okay, by now you are pretty sure something’s up, but what to do?
AutoSearch.b most likely came to you via a Trojan, such as Vundo or Zlob, and is not so easily removed. It, along with the other clones of AutoSearch.b, are very resistant to discovery and eviction, and you will have a devil of a time not only trying to find all the traces of AutoSearch.b that are now resident on your computer, but you’ll soon find that programs like these have set auto-replicating files in your system and you’ll be faced with the same problem upon reboot.
Probably the only truly effective way to rid your computer of AutoSearch.b and others like it is to use really good, legitimate antispyware software. There are scads of them out there but the best I’m aware of is ZookaWare PC Cleaner, which has a 100% spyware removal guarantee.
