Rapid Antivirus is Not a Good Thing

If you have been around the internet long, no doubt a few strange things have happened every now and then. Pop-ups and advertisements can seem to come out of nowhere. Rapid Antivirus may be something you have seen, but weren’t sure exactly what it was. It appears to be a good thing at first glance.

Have you ever had a pop-up that informed you that there were threats or that your computer was infected with spyware? If you have, more than likely another screen came up informing you that by clicking a button, you could get rid of the spyware or infections present. If this happens to you, never hit “ok” or download any of these tools. Most are fakes, and will put more spyware on your computer.

Rapid Antivirus is one such program. These types of scams are illegal, and criminals use them to make money. You can actually get malware, viruses and spyware without doing anything at all to cause it, but most of the time it is a result of something you have done. These programs can come from surfing the net, visiting a new website, or downloading a file – even such files as freeware and shareware.

There are steps you can take to prevent acquiring spyware on your computer, but it doesn’t guarantee you still won’t get infected. Some of the things you should do are pretty much common sense. Don’t visit questionable websites, don’t open emails that are from unknown sources, and never click “ok”, “accept”, or “download” on anything that pops up.

What can fake anti-spyware tools such as Rapid Antivirus do to your computer? If you notice your computer is running much slower, this could be due to such a program. Other symptoms are freezing or locking up. If you get pop up ads that are targeted to information you have been surfing for, more than likely spyware has been placed on your computer.

Spyware is hard for some people to understand. Basically, spyware can track every website you visit and keep a record of the information you are searching for. Then, pop-up ads you receive are related to those searches. You will notice that if you have searched recently for diet programs or medical information on high blood pressure, these are the types of pop-up ads you will begin getting. When this happens, more than likely it is present on your computer.

Rapid Antivirus can redirect your web browser, meaning what used to be your home page is replaced by something else. Sometimes a new tool bar that you haven’t installed will appear in your web browser, and you can’t get rid of it. Another symptom that you won’t be aware of – your surfing data can be sold to third parties.

What to do if you have spyware or malware? Don’t download Rapid Antivirus, whatever you do. Find a reliable anti-spyware program to get rid of infections if you believe you have them, and be cautious in your online activities!
