Removal Instructions for Omega Antivir

Omega Antivir is a rogue antivirus application designed to fool naïve users out of their hard earned cash. It sneaks aboard unsecure computers through Trojan horses and then proceeds to deliver a non-stop barrage of fake security warnings. It also runs false system scans that point to essential system files and claims they are malicious, or it will completely make up infections. Omega Antivir does this in order to scare the user into buying the full version of the program, which is completely useless.

If left to fester in the computer, Omega Antivir will slow the computer’s performance, slow the Internet connection, hijack the browser, and may even download additional malware. This is why it should be removed immediately once it has been discovered. In order to remove it manually, you should kill the following process:

Type : Rogue Security Application

Relative file contents :

oav.cfg, cookies.sqlite, Omega AntiVir.lnk, mozcrt19.dll, OM83b.exe, OMEGA-AV.ico, sqlite3.dll
OM83b.exe

Then, delete these registry values:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\Omega AntiVir
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{3F2BBC05-40DF-11D2-9455-00104BC936FF}

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run “Omega AntiVir”

Unregister the following DLLs:

mozcrt19.dll
sqlite3.dll

Delete these files:

oav.cfg
cookies.sqlite
Omega AntiVir.lnk
mozcrt19.dll
OM83b.exe
OMEGA-AV.ico
sqlite3.dll

Finally, delete these directories:

c:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\OAV
c:\Documents and Settings\Bleeping\Application Data\Omega AntiVir
c:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\61a60

Omega Antivir can be removed manually, but it is not a very effective form of removal. Since a Trojan horse usually installs it, you may be reinfected with it right after you remove it, if you don’t uninstall the Trojan as well. This really is an annoying virus. I don’t know how it came into my computer, but it was harassing me with alerts and try to run scans. I wanted to remove it by myself with your instructions, but I guess it is too difficult for me. So I had to download the removal tool. Now it is gone and I realized it is better to let my computer in your hands, then try to fix it by myself. 🙂
