SearchMaid Toolbar Removal

SearchMaid is a browser hijacker.  This means that it will alter your computer settings and reset your homepage to a page on the domain.  It will also redirect your searches from the search engine you want to use, into its server.  Not only is this annoying and inconvenient, it is also a breach of privacy, as well as just plain rude.

SearchMaid is usually installed with other software, although it is easy enough for any user to be tricked into downloading it by itself.  The program runs every time you start up your system, without asking.  This causes it to use up your memory, processor power, and other system resources.

This program tries to pass itself off as a BHO, or browser helper object.  This ensures that most firewall programs will never detect it, as it will appear to be part of Microsoft Internet Explorer.  SearchMaid typically installs a toolbar onto Explorer.

SearchMaid can be removed by deleting the files listed below.  A free scan by ZookaWare PC Cleaner will detect any other spyware, adware, or browser hijackers present on the computer.
