TinkoPal Spyware Profile
TinkoPal is one of the most notorious spyware programs in existence. It’s really not so much because of the program itself, which is a highly dangerous spyware program, but who its creator is and what he did. TinkoPal was created by Orion Holtby, formerly of Direct Revenue, which was formerly known as ABetterInternet. The company name he works under changes periodically; from Ncontext Media to Publishercash, Adacuity, nContextSearch, and many others. The current alias is Versata Software, Inc.
Orion Holtby is known to have defrauded several companies, including Hurricane Digital Media and Direct Revenue. To this date, the EULA for TinkoPal has references to ABetterInternet, and still downloads ABetterInternet spyware, though there is no official affiliation with them. The EULA itself is a draconic document; 5,653 words written at a Master’s Degree level of legalese.
Here are a few statements of interest to the user: “By accepting to download the TinkoPal you are also accepting that TinkoPal may also deliver to you advertisements.” “The timing, frequency, placement and extent of advertising is subject to change and shall be determined by TinkoPal at its sole discretion.” “TinkoPal (…) may also include third party applications with its upgrades.” “TinkoPal may modify this Agreement or the Software or Services provided at any time without providing notice to you.” This is just a small sample of a EULA that says, in so many words, “We own you” in such a way that it discourages you from reading it.
TinkoPal itself is different from most other toolbar spywares. It creates a desktop icon so that the toolbar can be used without initiating your browser. The data mining includes personal information, web search data, and URL information. If you have this program, you should definitely remove it with ZookaWare PC Cleaner.
