Web Nexus Information
Web Nexus is a small adware program typically installed with an installer package through trojan downloaders or bundled with other software. A difficult-to-remove registry value called “winsync” is created by WebNexus; the Add/Remove Programs list in your computer’s Control Panel will not remove it.
The installer file is self-contained and does not notify you upon installation, so Web Nexus can be installed undetected. Web Nexus delivers advertisements via pop-up or pop-unders through the Internet Explorer browser window or by a slide-up window. The window is branded as Web Nexus by putting a small link at the bottom of the page.
The installation adds a number of files and makes some registry changes. The installation copies files to the Windows System32 folder and then runs a process to hide the new files. Once that is done, it then creates registry entries needed to run the program on startup.
WebNexus.Adserver is malicious adware that infects your system processes and Windows registry files. Usually WebNexus.Adserver spreads through annoying email, chat rooms, news groups and corrupt freeware downloads. When infected, Adserver will modify system files, and generate harmful mynexus.exe, getnexus.exe, adcomplusanalytic.exe, webnexus.exe files together with other viruses onto the infected.
If you have any traces of WebNexus.Adserver, it is recommended that you remove it immediately. Any program that changes or adds to your registry files can be detrimental to the performance of your PC.
